How to clean your carpet properly
A fresh and clean carpet feels amazing, but we all know that sometimes that just doesn’t last very long. How can you make the most of it each time you muster the strength to clean your carpet? Here are a few tips to help you!
Vacuum regularly: Unfortunately there’s no way around it, vacuuming your carpet regularly (at least once a week!) will make a world of difference. It will lift off dirt and prevent any grime from being ingrained inside. Before you vacuum though, make sure you pick up any small items such as coins that could damage the appliance. Handy tip: dust your furniture first so that you can remove any dust that has fallen off!
Vacuum effectively: Use the appropriate nozzle to reach the edges and vacuum both horizontally and vertically. This will ensure a more thorough clean.
Deal with stains ASAP: If you spill something or there’s an accident, try to clean it as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove later on. Don’t rub the spot as this could damage the fibres. Instead, use a white cloth or a paper towel to blot the area. Use another clean cloth for the remainder of the stain.
Be wary of which chemicals you use: Some products may do more harm than good and actually end up damaging the surface. You can test a small section in a hidden area to check for any stains or colour removal first. Alternatively, hiring a professional carpet cleaner for a little bit extra can ensure that your carpet is taken care of with the highest quality and environmentally friendly chemicals.
